Project for Six laning of 59.87 Km long Hosur – Krishnagiri section of NH-7 in the State of Tamil Nadu under NHDP Phase V approved

The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure accepted the execution of the project for Six-lane High way consisting of 59.87 Kms long from Hosur to Krishnagiri sector. This national highway will be developed in the State of Tamil Nadu, on NH # 7 under National Highway Development Program Phase 5 on Design, build, finance, operate and transfer basis.
It is anticipated that the expenses of this project will cost around Rs.535.00 Crore, which is again to work under DBFOT system. All the expenses for completing this project will be borne by the infrastructure developer and retrieve the same by collecting the user fee from the commuters thereafter. As per the agreement with the government, it is said that the infrastructure developer will collect the toll fee for 24 years, which comprises construction time of thirty months.
This project is expected that, it will cut the time and expenses of the travelers, who are traveling between Hosur and Krishnagiri and it is predicted that this project shall get jobs for the local laborers. In addition, it will also support the transportation services to those who proceed towards Madurai.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs had permitted in October 2006, the six-laning of 6500 Kms of four-lane National Highways including 5700 Kms of Golden Quadrilateral and 800 Kms of other segments at a expenditure of Rs.41, 210 crore under National Highway Development Program Phase V. The entire venture entailed is Rs.35, 692 crore, which is projected from private sector and the balance Rs.5, 518 crore from Government financial support for bridging the feasibility variance.
